Winter is here, and NPS Medicinewise is again reminding people about the potential dangers of antibiotic resistance.
The spread of antibiotic-resistant infections is one of the biggest global health threats today. Antibiotic resistance is largely caused by the overuse and misuse of antibiotics — this happens when we as a community use antibiotics when they’re not needed, such as for viruses like colds and flu, or when don’t take them as directed.
You can help stop the spread of antibiotic resistance by talking to your doctor about whether you actually need that script. You can also take part in the Winter is Coming NPS Medicinewise campaign, or submit an entry to the Save the Script short film competition being run with Tropfest.
